The Transformers 40th Anniversary is hard to grok with so much created for Generation 1 and beyond, we often forget about the many aspects of the original Autobot Leader. Takara documented this so well in their Super Collection Figure (SCF) series that featured the many animation models of Convoy (Optimus Prime) as PVC figures that were released over many waves (ACTs). We've taken a look at many before here on the Daily Prime.
Starting in 2000, Takara made 3" figurines featuring Convoy with his Energon-Axe, ION Blaster, Megatron Gun, Truck Modes, and other forms and features that appeared at one time or another in the 1985 Japan Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers cartoon - the in-language version of the American Generation 1 series. Takara produced quite a few G1 SCF figures in 6 ACTs over 3 years. We will be looking at all the SCF ACT Prime releases this week.
Grouped by the common molds, we start chopping away at the heap of Convoys with a shot of the Energon-Axe mold variants made. Commemorating the "The Battle at Sherman Dam" scene, Takara initially released the Axe weapon Metallic version exclusively as a 2000 ACT 1 chase figure that was randomly packed 1 in 10 cases. It was only available otherwise with KOs, until 2002 when the Axe appeared again in the limited edition Confrontation set, and in Hasbro's Heroes of Cybertron Wave 2 with cartoon colors and left-hand fist.
