I don't see this as a Masterpiece figure. Just a super articulated version of the G1 figure.
Counter Point,
Is this a joke?
Masterpiece has fallen so hard over the last few years. From ridiculous fly apart transformations to this stand it up and turn its waist around and "magically" you have a Prime robot.
As for Super Ginrai I never liked the character maybe that is just me. If you like him then this is very cool for you. The reasons I never liked him were very simple. First I never saw the Masterforce show as a kid and this version of Prime was way off from our US cartoon. The second reason is that the arms were so visible in trailer mode it just looked like trash.
If you are doing a masterpiece do something with the arms. That means HIDE the arms not just make them too short for the body.
These poor transformations and inflated PRICES are why I am done with Masterpiece and MPG.
By the way we have enough Primes, Do Jazz!
Finally a Takara Masterpiece God Ginrai.
How long have Ginrai fans waited for this since we watch the Masterforce series as kids back in 1989? My god.
His resemblance to Convoy (Optimus Prime) that is so dear to all kids. And yet in a mysterious incarnation of not being Optimus Prime. His mortality of almost being killed by Overload. And the white God Bomber suit later just add another layer of captivating Japanese anime intrigue. And his eventual death in Victory and tragic and bizarre reincarnation as Vic Leo that is difficult for young hearts to accept.
Of the 3 series Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory. God Ginrai was THE character that define the series. Sorry Vic Saber. NOT YOU.
I really hope this Ginrai works out well. I was just a kid when I watch the series and God Ginrai is the only robot I ever wanted. In my country back then only Super Ginrai was on sale. God Ginrai toy remained the forever enigma till years later as an adult it starts appearing as reissues.
We had a lot of Ginrai 3rd parties wannabes over the years. Most of them flopped. The worst being the recent chinese raijin which I dont even consider a flop but a travesty.
This time lets see if the Japanese and Takara can finally bring on a robot that is worthy of the God Ginrai we knew as kids.
