There is something at the core of the Studio Series Devastation Optimus Deluxe figure that is hard to define. It feels like it still needs some work in the paint and articulation departments, but appears to be what is coming to retail. What could have been a mini 86 Optimus Prime, is not. Devastation Optimus Prime is released. The Optimus Prime in the game is thin and shiny (and has unique edges and rounded corners). Although the toy is not big, the feel is very different this time. The surface is matte and the material is thick. Transformation is a new setting, simple and fun, and the body and movement are basically taken care of. The leadership module and chest painting are also icing on the cake. I like this Devastation Prime very much. I guess I will take it out often in the future.

After getting ss86 OP, this thing looks like pure c.r.a.p. to m.e.
This design was so simple to make! Literally almost any of their other Optimus designs would have sufficed! Please explain to me how in the world they messed this up... And I'm just referring to the figure's design, that's not even mentioning its useless ax gimmick. Don't get me wrong, I love it when an Optimus comes with an ax, but why did they make it a gimmick! There are so many new Optimus Prime toys they could have re-scaled/retooled, there was no reason to do this.
