Following the Transformers 1984 CBS Network Pitch Documents from early 1984, the initial concept for the G1 Transformers cartoon, developed by Marvel Productions, was quite different from the series that eventually aired. Chris McFeely's @ChrisMcFeely video, "GENERATION NONE," details this early pitch. The initial TV network presentation was a world of Transformers with a very different story-line and character dynamics than what we know today.

What looks more like Scooby Doo, dog and all, shows how the Transformers was developed from the start to be a competitive property. But there's more, always more, as we learn of Fire-Cycle who was apparent model for Elita-1, and love interest to Optimus Prime from the start.

Thankfully, the early version was never realized, but a lot of the concepts did appear in the final Transformers TV series. This shows the early stages defining what was to become the core appeal of the Transformers: the idea of sentient robots that could secretly hide in disguise as common Earth items.
Nice to know but thank Primus this was not to be.
