The Transformers: The Movie is returning to theaters internationally in 4K from September 17–22! To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Hasbro has created “Optimus Prime: Awakening”–– a special, 12-minute, animated short featuring the late Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and Frank Welker as Megatron / Soundwave. This morning, Hasbro unveiled a new preview clip, viewable on the Transformers YouTube channel that you can watch below. The clip reveals some very interesting twists, and possible spoilers.
“Optimus Prime: Awakening” is a fully realized, 12-minute animated short designed as a love letter to the Transformers community and the late Peter Cullen, the legendary talent and voice of Optimus Prime. In light of Peter’s passing, we are especially honored to share this performance with the Transformers community and celebrate the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind.
“Optimus Prime: Awakening” builds on the acclaimed storytelling and visuals of The Transformers: The Movie (1986), giving audiences the rare opportunity to experience the iconic cultural moment from the franchise’s past while exploring its future on the big screen. The animated short delivers emotional storytelling, electric action, and new performances by legends Frank Welker as Megatron/Soundwave and Peter Cullen in his final original voice performance as Optimus Prime.
Recently hasblow permitted TFTM 40 anniversary screenings just in Japan. But, the majority of Asia remains boycotted and banned. Currently Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, and India all remain excluded. What gives? Anyone know?
Many TF fans ourselves included want to see this but we are excluded. Does anyone know what it'd take to get some screenings in the rest of Asia? Thank you.
$50 for steel book...no thanks. I'm good with my copy from 2000.
