The Devastation Of Online Transformers Video Game Offerings Explained
RAC - Friday, January 12, 2018

Gaming site IGN has contacted Hasbro to find out more about the recent disappearance of Activision's Transformers titles from digital storefronts. Hasbro's answer will probably surprise you in the least, as it's the answer we all suspected. Keep reading to see the confirmation.
Hasbro confirmed to IGN its contract with Activision to publish Transformers games has expired. However, Hasbro is not at this time discussing what, if any, plans it might have for Transformers games on PC and consoles in the future. Multiple mobile games, including Transformers: Forged to Fight, are still ongoing, however.

So, there we have it. Activision's license has expired, and so War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, Dark of the Moon, Devastation, and the other lesser Transformers games are no longer available for download. Sadly, the current-gen remastered version of Fall of Cybertron that came out (at full retail price) last year was never offered physically, so you'll need a PS3 or an Xbox 360 to play that excellent game from now on.

Also worthwhile if not spectacular was Transformers Prime: The Game which appeared on 3DS and Wii. And while not particularly celebrated on console, the 3DS version of Rise of the Dark Spark was a strategy game by developer Wayforward, so that's likely worth a look.

All in all, Activision had a lot of ups and downs with the Transformers license. When they gave it the attention it deserved, or even a little bit of the attention it deserved, good things happened. And the developer of the two best TF games, High Moon Studios, has gone onto (presumably financially) better things, producing content for Bungie's hit Destiny series.

What's next? We don't know, but hopefully this isn't the last of (Good!) Transformers games on consoles.

The Transformers Facebook page has shared a post today featuring a video clip (from Titans Return) and revealing when the third and final series in the Prime Wars Trilogy will launch. With a much shorter wait than that from Combiner Wars to Titans Return, Power of The Primes will begin streaming on Tuesday, May 1st. With the debut so close, it seems odd we haven't seen more promotion leading up to the launch date as we had with both previous web series - but there's still about a week and a half to squeeze some more in! Fresh in shops in both New Zealand and The Philippines as of this week, the remaining Terrorcons are now out in the wild to let collectors complete Abominus. Chefatron on Youtube has some video coverage of the new toys, taking a look individually at Sinnertwin, Blot, and Cutthroat, and then the completed combined form. Based on the usual patterns, fans in the US should expect to start seeing these toys become available in about a month from now, around the middle of May. You can check out each of the new videos embedded below.
The end of the IDW Transformers universe as we know it proceeds in July, with the first two issues of the Unicron miniseries takes us on a tour of Unicron's dinner buffet, while the double-dose of Optimus Prime issues 21 and 22 carries on the story, Meanwhile, Lost Light #21 and #22 move toward wrapping up the story More Than Meets The Eye embarked on so long ago, and wrapping it up with something completely different, we've got the second issue of the Bumblebee Movie's prequel comic tie in with 60's spy action. And be warned before proceeding, there are spoilers present in the solicitations for this month's books! That, and cover previews can be found below.
