The Devastation Of Online Transformers Video Game Offerings Explained
RAC - Friday, January 12, 2018

Gaming site IGN has contacted Hasbro to find out more about the recent disappearance of Activision's Transformers titles from digital storefronts. Hasbro's answer will probably surprise you in the least, as it's the answer we all suspected. Keep reading to see the confirmation.
Hasbro confirmed to IGN its contract with Activision to publish Transformers games has expired. However, Hasbro is not at this time discussing what, if any, plans it might have for Transformers games on PC and consoles in the future. Multiple mobile games, including Transformers: Forged to Fight, are still ongoing, however.

So, there we have it. Activision's license has expired, and so War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, Dark of the Moon, Devastation, and the other lesser Transformers games are no longer available for download. Sadly, the current-gen remastered version of Fall of Cybertron that came out (at full retail price) last year was never offered physically, so you'll need a PS3 or an Xbox 360 to play that excellent game from now on.

Also worthwhile if not spectacular was Transformers Prime: The Game which appeared on 3DS and Wii. And while not particularly celebrated on console, the 3DS version of Rise of the Dark Spark was a strategy game by developer Wayforward, so that's likely worth a look.

All in all, Activision had a lot of ups and downs with the Transformers license. When they gave it the attention it deserved, or even a little bit of the attention it deserved, good things happened. And the developer of the two best TF games, High Moon Studios, has gone onto (presumably financially) better things, producing content for Bungie's hit Destiny series.

What's next? We don't know, but hopefully this isn't the last of (Good!) Transformers games on consoles.

Earlier tonight we shared with you some photos of an apparently early-release copy of Rodimus Unicronus, the new addition to Power of The Primes Leader class wave 2. But there's a bit of a discrepancy with it, as highlighted for us on Twitter by Barricade64. The official images we've seen of the toy since it was revealed have featured aspects of its deco and the slight remolding of the Rodimus Prime head that point to an intentional nod at the Shattered Glass continuity that was a recurring staple of Fun Publications' time producing licensed material for the brand. It seems that isn't quite so much the case anymore. Keep reading!

Amazon Japan has posted stock photos for the majority of the June and July assortments of TakaraTomy's Power of The Primes releases. Firstly, this crushes a lot of last-gasp hopes from the fan community as we find that the Dinobots aren't being redirected to a revived Unite Warriors (instead being the majority of June's individual releases), and no Masterforce-based redeco of Darkwing and Dreadwind is forthcoming. We do get really good looks at a lot of what we're getting as wave 2, including our best look yet at the Alchemist Prime/Submarauder Prime Master. We've mirrored all the images below, click through to have a look!
Thanks to Justin geier who gave us the heads up on the in-hand images posted on Ebay of the Rodimus Unicronus In-Hand Images Power of The Primes Leader Class figure. This first wave of figures is barely out and we're already seeing the repaint hitting the shelves in Wichita, Kansas? Read on to see the in-hand images of Rodimus Unicronus below.

It's been a contentious issue over the last couple of Prime Wars installments, and it's only getting more intense. We can see the appeal of stickers to solve budgetary problems, but we can also see the stickers peel - often before we've even bought the toy! In this editorial, RAC goes over the hows and whys of stickers and cites the remarkable consensus growing in a consensus-resistant collector community: Hasbro, Please Stop.
