''Transformers 2'' Story Leaked, Clues Hint At Legit Status

Even before the DVD of "Transformers" hits, a huge "Transformers 2" buzz has hit the circuit. It seems CountingDown.com, a website owned by DreamWorks SKG, posted on their website some information about "Transformers 2," but was quickly, and suspiciously taken down. However, before that happened, IESB managed to snag the October 2, 2007-dated PDF document that was posted. The document is identified as a story treatment for "Transformers 2."

The studios have vehemently denied that the PDF document is a legitimate story treatment, so in turn, it was shared to the world wide web public.

So when a studio denies that it's not legit, it must not be right? It could very possibly just be and attempt to develop more hype following the news of Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Ehren Kruger in talks for scripting "Transformers 2" as well as Box Office Mojo pegging the film's release date as June 26, 2009.

However, several clues that popped up around the same time have lead to an indication that the studio is lying about this treatment, and legitimacy of the document grows stronger.

There are two news stories, both posted today stemming from a set visit to "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," reporting executive producer Steven Spielberg as saying the story will be finalized soon. IGN Movies is reporting that Mr. Spielberg has said the story will be finalized within the next 30 days, while Slash Film has him saying in a couple weeks. Slash Film also reports that Mr. Spielberg says if the writers guild strike doesn’t happen in November, they will be able to go into production on "number 2" pretty quickly.

Also, a PM from "toymaker" from TFans reveals what may be a message from director Michael Bay's official site's webmaster, "nelson." "What I can tell you is that treatment wasn't a fan concoction. Take it as you will," the webmaster cryptically writes.

His message included other cryptic messages, including, "[h]e who says 'I know the plot' or 'I have a scoop' might be telling the truth in a false way," he writes, "or might be telling a lie in a truthful way."

He also says that this time around, he will not confirm nor deny anything about the movie unless Mr. Bay says so, and he warns "[b]e careful on what source you base your expectations on."
