Over on Facebook, Loopaza has uncovered new info about Masterpiece Beast Wars Dinobot! After what's seemed like forever waiting, we're finally inching towards a real release for our third Beast Wars MP mold, which is reported to be designated as MP-41. But while the release info offers no new images or other details about the figure directly, we do get to find out a release date, and a price to go with it. And it's a bit of a shocker. Take a seat, and keep reading for the details!
Right now, MP-41 Dinobot is scheduled to hit retail in July of 2018, and it is listed at a price of ¥28,000, putting it on similar footing price-wise with MP-36 Megatron or MP-10 Optimus and its variations. We're assuming the 28,000 includes Japan's 8% sales tax, which would make the base retail price ¥25,760. Either way, it looks like Dinobot may go down as the most expensive retail Masterpiece yet.
In the TV show, Dinobot was one of the tallest characters in the first season, standing distinctly taller than Optimus Primal, and being nearly as tall as Megatron. It's conceivable that a combination of that required volume as well as an unusual degree of complexity in order to turn Mainframe's CGI "magic" to something that can be achieved in the horribly constraining confines of reality have worked together to reach such a price point.
Dinobot is expected to be a featured debut in Figure King magazine this month, and we anticipate general preorders to open at roughly the same time the article is published, and that means one thing: We should finally have good pictures of both modes, in color, and finally get to see exactly what those of us so inclined will be paying so much for.
