Bumblebee Movie - New Photos From Santa Cruz Shooting Location Show Off VW Bug, Datsun ZX, and More Vintage Cars
RAC - Wednesday, September 20, 2017

As it turns out, Santa Cruz is within driving distance of BaCon! So he's down there now, snapping photos of the Bumblebee set. So we're posting his first round of recon photos along with the info he's gathered so far, plus a list of some of the classics cars on location we could ID. Keep reading!

The shooting has so far taken over the boardwalk, and shooting is expected to take place in the amusement park through Friday or possibly Monday. BaCon's spotted a black Datsun 300ZX - also sold in Japan under the "Fairlady Z" name that Prowl, Bluestreak, and Smokescreen's Nissan 280ZX was sold under. A blue Chevy Monte Carlo was also seen.

BaCon is still on the scene, so hopefully we'll have more info and photos for you as it becomes available!

In the meantime, here's what our crack team of automobile non-experts here at TFormers were able to identify among the cars at the filming location:
• 1968 Camaro SS (red)
• Early 1980s Volkswagen Rabbit LS (green)
• 1985 BMW 325 (silver)
• Oldsmobile Cutlass (brown)
• Chevrolet Monte Carlo (light blue)
• 1968 Pontiac LeMans (green)
• 1970s Dodge Charger Sport (darker blue)
• 1960s Mustang (light blue)
• 1980s Datsun 280z (orange)
• 1980s Jeep Wranger (brown)
• 1980s International Harvester Scout (red)
• 1980s International Harvester Scout (charchol)
• 1979 Datsun 510 Wagon (blue)
• 1979 Datsun 510 Sedan (green and white)

Besides these, a couple of older Jeeps, a Chevrolet pickup truck, and a few other vehicles we couldn't immediately identify were present with the other prop vehicles.

More Bumblebee: The Movie News
While being interviewed regarding Pacific Rim Uprising, Steven DeKnight was briefly asked by Uproxx about his time working with the Transformers Movie Writers Room. There's really no new revelations in this, as he mentions working on what he recalled as a dozen movie pitches, but he did make sure to mention how the upcoming Transformers: Bumblebee was his favorite of what came out of the project. Hopefully that's a genuinely positive sign for the quality of this year's movie, though it's also entirely possible that DeKnight wouldn't even recognize the movie if he saw it today. You can see more on this plus a link to the interview below!
Amazon Canada is providing us with our first details about the third assortment of Tiny Turbo Changers figures, tied in to the upcoming Transformers: Bumblebee movie line. While there are no images of the figures currently, the description on the page names the entire assortment, leading to what we can suspect is some number of reused molds, but a fair few which sound like they must be all new. Click through to get the full character list!
Its not even in theathers yet, but have Paramount already shipped the new Transformers: Bumblebee: The Movie details off to disc makers in Europe? German Blu-ray portal site,, has posted a new product listing in German language along with a place holder product image. The listing is accompanied by information on the cast, summary and product format info. Note, some of this may be spoilerish. If the information is indeed accurate - Read on to see the machine translated information below.
Ever since first hearing of it in a product info dump from a retailer computer system, the Energon Igniters line coming up as part of the general toy tie in offerings for Bumblebee: The Movie has been a big question mark - and even Toy Fair came and went without further details being revealed. Via the unexpected source of Amazon India, we have some product copy that sheds a little light on the matter. Keep reading to find out more.
Thanks to Brazilian hobby blog T-Hunted, we have an image showing off upcoming Jada die-cast car products for 2018. Among a selection of Marvel and other licensed property vehicles, a few Transformers entries can be seen, including G1-inspired vehicles for Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, along with Optimus Prime as he appeared in the earlier part of the live action movie series, and one more silhouetted Volkswagen that's almost certain to be Bumblebee as he will appear in his self-titled movie later this year. We've mirrored the image, and you can find that below with a link to the original blog post.
