We recently brought you word that TakaraTomy had issued a voluntary recall for the just-released Encore God Fire Convoy reissue, citing errors on the packaging and in the programming of the electronics. Today, Hobbylink Japan has sent word out to customers that purchased the set from them, detailing the options that they will be making available to address the current situation. In the process, they've also verified that as far as they know, no replacement items are expected from TakaraTomy, though it's unlikely anyone thought a revised production run would have been coming. Keep reading to find out what HLJ is doing for its customers.
Youtuber Yukio, who pointed out some of the defects with his version of Encore God Fire Convoy in his previous video, has decided to keep his purchase instead of returning it and took upon himself to repair the poor quality stricken reissue. You can see his instructional video below.
A new posting on TakaraTomy's website announces that the company is beginning a recall of the recently released Encore God Fire Convoy reissue, offering to take back the set and refund customers for their purchase. The stated reason comes as a bit of a surprise, as it's not to do with any of the repeatedly discussed material or assembly issues, but rather a mistake in the electronics. The company cites an error in the sound chip programming, along with an error in the printed information in the packaging as the cause for the recall. Keep reading to find out more.
Thanks to YouTuber, Yukio. Those of you pondering the purchase of the Encore God Fire Convoy. Will want to watch this video. It demonstrates and verifies defects of the Encore God Fire Convoy that have been floating around the internet. Glad I didn't jump on this one. I'll stick with my original. Watch the in Japanese language video below that shows off most of the problems with this set.
Chinese Facebook group Tfcn posted a message earlier today stating that Car Robots Encore God Fire Convoy - the God Magnus/Fire Convoy two pack (AKA Robots In Disguise 2001's Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime, forming Omega Prime) - would be recalled due to QC issues. Later in the day, however, they responded to the original post saying that they had been incorrect and no recall would occur. Keep reading to see both messages in the original Chinese as well as (mechanically translated) English.
Thanks to tagoal via Twitter, we've got some very nice photos tonight of the brand new Encore God Fire Convoy set. The first Car Robots reissue package has slightly deco-modified versions of Fire Convoy and God Magnus, and includes the giant sword with its polearm-style handle previously exclusive to a Toys R Us Japan clear giftset. This Encore release is in many respects the entire package, but it's certainly not going to come cheap! Keep reading to see the mirrored photos below.
Andy Leung on the Hobbymizer Facebook group has the Encore God Fire Convoy boxset in hand, and has shared lots of photos and some videos of the Car Robots reissue set. The pair of Fire Convoy and God Magnus feature tweaked decos, most notably doing away with a lot of the chrome present on the original toys, giving a slightly more animation-oriented look to the toys. The reissues also feature newly recorded sound chips with lines spoken by the voice actors from the Car Robots TV show, demonstrations of which can be found in videos embedded below. Plus we have lots of photos mirrored to get a great look at this set. Click through to see everything!

Transformers Car Robots Encore God Fire Convoy - Official Images Of Robots In Disguise Omega Prime Reissue
Site sponsor TFSource has posted images of Encore God Fire Convoy! While it's extremely similar to the original release, the new photos distinguish this release with their inclusion of a translucent plastic-bladed Matrix Blade/God Fire Sword as well as a lack of vacuum-metalized parts on Optimus Prime's normal-mode chest. Which is not $280's worth of upgrades to RAC, personally, but does indeed look better to him, and distinguishes this release from the original. Keep reading to see!
TakaraTomy has posted a sample image for the package art for Unite Warriors Ruination! "Evil Destronger Combiner Combatron Baldigus," is due in late March and isn't just a recolor of Unite Warriors Bruticus to match his Robots In Disguise recolor, no. TakaraTomy is also adding a suite of combining weapons as well as US Combiner Wars Computron's hands and feet to the mix. Keep reading to see the package art!
TakaraTomy designer Hisashi Yuki has shared a couple more interesting images from Car Robots, the series that would be known as the first Robots In Disguise in the US. First up is more rough preliminary design work for Super Fire Convoy, AKA Optimus Prime. Also, a photo of a special version of Wildride/X-Brawn with clear parts that was used to highlight the detailing of the engine compartment at a toy show. Keep reading to see!
Auto Assembly has come and gone and during the show, there was a rather large showcase of the ultra rare Lucky Draw figures. One of the extremely rare ones are the Lucky Draw Black God Magnus from the Japanese series Car Robots (Robots In Disguise in the U.S.) and they have provided a rather large gallery of the figure. In this gallery, they show off the figure and copies of the magazine in which Black God Magnus was a prize. Take a look now.
I recently got the chance to photograph the Car Robots Black God Fire Convoy An exclusive in several contests during the Car Robots line he was limited to just a few hundred pieces.
