Cars from Transformers Rolls Out For America on Wheels Museum Exhibit
BaCon - Wednesday, September 06, 2017

Fans of the Transformers movie vehicles in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area can check out the new exhibit opening at the America on Wheels museum, Saturday September 8th through December 31st, 2017.

The exhibit will feature some of the actual vehicles from the movie including Megatron, Bumblebee, Rollbar, and Sideswipe. In addition to the vehicles, the exhibit will provide insights into the making of these vehicles for use in the movies.
Megatron, a Mack truck built for “Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon,” was on display at the museum in another exhibit of movie and TV cars in 2012.

The other cars are from General Motors. They are Bumblebee, a yellow 2014 Chevrolet Camaro concept car in “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” Rollbar, a 2013 Sonic RS Rally from “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” and Sideswipe, a 50th anniversary Corvette Stingray concept car from “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

The display was curated by Ed Welburn, an America on Wheels board member and retired General Motors vice president of Global Design. Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Rollbar were designed under his leadership.

“The vehicles in ‘Transformers’ often give viewers a glimpse into the future of automotive design through concept vehicles,” says Welburn, who will talk about the exhibit at 1 p.m. on opening day.

In addition to seeing the vehicles up close, you will learn about the development process of each model. Photo opportunities will be available during the exhibit’s run.

A major part of Walmart's exclusive Autobots Unite subline during the run of The Last Knight Premier Edition, Deluxe Hot Rod never really turned up in any stores - nor did the majority of the rest of that sub-branding, which found its way to discount retailers a few months back. Premier Edition Hot Rod is now following suit, with a reported find at Ross in the Los Angeles area priced at $8.99, according to Gepard. Hot Rod was available via Walmart's website, starting at $20 and gradually rising in price as time went on. Ross distribution can be hit and miss, but at this price it may be worth keeping an eye out!
Thanks to Alfes2010 on Twitter, we have some (literally) in-hand photos of the quad barrel shotgun accessory that was the subject of the latest TakaraTomy marketing campaign in Japan. Customers buying 4000 yen worth of qualifying Transformers merchandise at participating retailers would receive the quad barrel shotgun, itself a reuse of one of Hound's many weapons originally from the Age of Extinction toy, painted in Optimus Prime inspired deco. You can click through to see Alfes2010's photos showing a few different figures using the special weapon.
Planet Iacon has shared some in-hand images of the TakaraTomy Quad-Barrel Shotgun Japanese campaign exclusive. The "Quad-Barrel Shotgun" is a movie replica from "Transformer The Last Knight", a gun that Optimus Prime used while brainwashed in the violent fight scene against Bumblebee. Check out the exclusive weapon along with the poster and accompanying literature below.
So it's generally accepted that Transformers: The Last Knight One-step Changers (known as Speed Change Transformers in Japan) aren't the most impressive of figures. But, what about one that is made from the ground up by one person, entirely out of cardboard? Thanks to DIY Japan on YouTube, we can now answer this question: it is much, much cooler. Dengeki hobby announces transformers quad barrel shotgun gift campaign starting April 21 at participating retailers you can receive one with any purchase of Takara tomy transformers products of 4000 yen or more.
