Combiner Wars - Shockwave, Onslaught, Scattershot, More Upcoming Products Revealed In Major Retailer Inventory Data

Mr Chaos has posted once again relaying news discovered from retailer inventory listings. Following what we expect to be the final product waves of 2015 including Voyager Optimus Maximus and legends Rodimus and Skywarp, we'll see several new toys in both of these pricepoints. Coming as little surprise is Onslaught, presumably the preplanned alternate use of Hot Spot, but the rest of the entries are rather unexpected. Keep reading to find out more!

Coming in what we expect to be early assortments in 2016, we'll apparently see Voyager Class Scattershot. I've personally speculated prior to this leak that Silverbolt could plausibly be retooled to fit this role, removing the elements specifically tying the toy to a conventional aircraft mode, including replacing the cockpit with a cannon piece. Whether this will mark out third use of the base Silverbolt engineering remains to be seen, but it's not an unlikely guess right now.

In the Legends category, we'll be seeing Pipes, presumably a recolor of Legends Huffer, itself a retool of 2013's Legends Class Optimus Prime. Joining that will be Chop Shop, who at this point seems likely to be a recolor of Skrapnel. Next we have Shockwave and Buzzsaw, two figures that are most likely new molds. If designed either as a gun or with a gun configuration resembling Shockwave's classic alternate mode, it would be a likely pair with Onslaught to be used as the weapon for Bruticus, much as was done with Powerglide and Superion. Finally Buzzsaw would seem like a new version of Soundwave's tape buddy, though surely not to be designed with that alternate form. A good possibility might be the currently used design in IDW which appears as though it might become a motorcycle.

Unfortunately as far off as these items are it's very unlikely anything will be seen of them this weekend at Toy Fair unless the timeline for product releases is much, much more condensed than we expect. However, Botcon and especially San Diego Comic-Con later this year may shed some light, and while it's been rumored already, this looks like a very strong indication that Combiner Wars will be carrying on strong in to a second year!
