Daily Prime - Anatomy of 2010 War For Cybertron Optimus Prime

Of course, we have to talk about the new Studio Series Optimus Prime by looking at the old 2010 Generations Cybertronian Optimus Prime. I was going to shoot this figure out of the package, but the robot is packed on the card in a kind of anatomical view that I think is perfect for this feature.

The High Moon Studios game design (above) was not only one of the first figures (below left) in the then new Generation series, it was one of Hasbro's first Transformers toys to be made from a game. I like this figure enough to have four versions of it. However, it has some shortcomings, with a top-heavy torso and short legs that limit posability. Additionally, the smaller scale deluxe is hard to transform and feels a bit fragile to me.

I am really happy that we are getting the new Transformers Studio Series GE-03 Gamer Edition War for Cybertron Optimus Prime in a voyager class figure (above). We can already see they updated the proportions to improve mobility quite a bit on the new figure. The updated Blaster, with new Matrix and transforming Melee Axe are great additions too. Hopefully, it will be followed by a 2011 Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime (below right), Studio Series remake as well.
