Today's Prime shot takes a look at one of the "First Edition" Takara TOMY Transformers Prime releases that differed significantly from the Hasbro counterpart. Japan got a "First Edition" figure release depicted in the show as Orion Pax with the Arms Micron Shining Gold RA figure (left) as a BIC Camera shops exclusive. The set was even packed with both Autobot and Decepticon stickers for fans to choose the faction alignment.
While Hasbro never delivered an actual Orion Pax named release, we did get something just as cool using the same First Edition deluxe mold for the SDCC 2011 First Edition Optimus Prime with Matrix packaging (right). As you can see, the colors and other aspects of the figures are quite different with Takara's using lighter metallic red and chrome stickers, compared with Hasbro's in a solid color darker red, lighter blue, and paint apps.
