What a surprise the Hot Wheels Collectors Optimus Prime is. Mattel Creations exclusive went all out with an actual transforming 1:64 die-cast metal Generation 1 Autobot Leader.

From the impressive packaging, down to the Spectraflame red and blue metallic paint, this looks and feels more like a piece of jewelry than something to be played with. This figure sold out fast, but I cannot imagine this will be the only release of the mold. Hopefully, we will see a more basic G1 cartoon colors version that everyone can get at retail before long.

I was interested until I saw the $80 price tag. There is no legitimate reason for it to be so expensive. Pure price gouging!
Wow another G1 optimus prime nobody wants and with an $80 price tag to boot.
That Optimus, is a literal dream come true... but that price tag is most certainly not.
Never thought I would ever say this, but the Bumblebee actually looks pretty good. As a Transformer and Hot wheel fan, this is actually pretty exciting... but then again, it doesn't transform.
