I was reminded of the Transformers Age of Extinction Smash and Change figures that Hasbro designed to make Transformers more accessible:
From what I can tell, both work in a similar way with pushing (smashing) the alt mode to trigger the transformation to robot mode and back. Shown here is the 2014 Transformers Age of Extinction Smash and Change Silver Optimus Prime Target exclusive in the three transformation steps.
