Daily Prime - Target Optimus and Cadet Bullseye Concept Design Details & Images

Hasbro designer @markclonus sets his sights for his behind the scenes feature on the Transformers Legacy Target Optimus and Cadet Bullseye that were just announced. Get the inside deets on this heavily branded Target exclusive pack for a delivery truck is somewhat ironic, considering how many orders Target has cancelled. Read on to get Mark's making of report along with some new in-hand images of the 2-Pack.

Target Optimus and Cadet Bullseye are ready to deliver some delightful decor for your special Transformers collection room. Pack it, seal it, ship it! Transform and roll on out to deliver goodies to all of you loyal and passionate fans!

Shoutout to my man Ted over at Target who was a pleasure to work with on this item. I’m a loyal target shopper and this pack really spoke to me when the opportunity arose to work on it.

I was pushing for Bullseye to be in the pack, as I mentioned on the stream, I’ve always felt Optimus was the kind of guy who would love a small dog. I know from my own experiences, having my poodle Bandit changed my life in a positive way. This dude Optimus has been fighting for peace in a never ending war for 40 years, I meannnn, can the guy just relax and throw the ol matrix around wit the pup!

The vector graphics for the trailer tampography were quite a challenge. I did my best to line up clean spots on the trailer and follow branding guidelines. Extremely satisfied with the result as to how clean it came out in production. The laser prime mold in these colors just really hits, the truck mode dictated alot of how he was decorated. The Bullseye postage mailer was somthing Target had just redesigned and wanted to place on there as a graphic, it was a bit tough on placement but it def reads well in hand!

How much is that doggy in the trailer (transforming noise) the one with the target for an eye!

I REALLY don't want another one of those shitty Earthrise trailers. I hope this is the last time we ever see that thing again. It is the biggest waste of money ever put in Transformers box to boost the cost. At least with SS86 Grimlock's Wheelie and SS86 Slag's Daniel, those were there to "inflation proof" those figures. They had a little extra budget left and included them while the budget allowed for it. Future releases don't and most likely never will have those pieces as has already been seen in every Grimlock release after so far. And is also most likely the reason for Grimlock being a "package refresh" next year. They're 100% dropping Wheelie from the release and that's why they'll have to update the packaging. And the most likely blue but hopefully teal rumored G2 Grimlock won't have Wheelie either.

And Siege Ravage for Bullseye? Seriously? That sucks. At least use Lionizer. I don't know how well Target would've taken their mascot turning into a sword but since they were retooling the head anyway, the tail sword is on that same sprue and could also have been retooled into something a little more family friendly for their mascot. I can't think of what right now but it could've been something. A tape dispenser? A scanning device? I don't know. I just know Siege Ravage sucks. But I guess that missing Ravage from the Takara Decepticon multipack had to go somewhere right?

I'm digging the Cybertron Galaxy Force/Animated Elite Guard looking color scheme for G2 Optimus though. I'm just glad it's not the VNR mold again. That mold just isn't really all that good honestly. It's not bad, it's just not as fun as the G2 mold is.

But still; no Roller, no energon axe, no extra Ion rifle. Nothing. At this rate, they could've added the whole Centurion drone upgrade kit for free with how much they're saving using both of these molds again. And the Ravage too for that matter.
