Daily Prime - The First and Last MasterPiece MP-1 Convoy

Mint In Package (MIP) Monday takes a look at the beginning and end of the original Takara Transformers MasterPiece MP-1 Convoy figures. The MP-1L Convoy Last Production was a special final edition released in 2011 just before the new MP-10 Convoy was introduced.

There are a handful of differences between the 2003 MP-1 (left) and 2011 MP-1L (right) releases. These include a lighter red paint, the words "LAST SHOT" molded into the back, and the inclusion of a talking base. The recolored 20th Aniversary Optimus Prime DVD Edition base plays quotes spoken by original Convoy voice actor Tesshō Genda. Among the many messages was a random secret message, "soon be reborn", that was a teaser for the subsequent MasterPiece MP-10 Convoy release.
