Just in from SDCC 2022 Transformers Legacy new products panel is the full reveal of the Transformers Generations Legacy A Hero is Born 2-Pack! The PulseCon 2022 exclusive set will include remakes of Studio Series Scourge as Alpha Trion and Studio Series Kup as Orion Pax. The set also includes Key to Vector Sigma accessories. Look for the 2-Pack to be released November 1, 2022, for $66.99 USD.
The Scourge remake as Alpha Trion was anticipated by many fans, and they pulled it off better than I expected. The new head really makes it. I personally much prefer the Cybertronian space cruiser to the lion alternate mode, so this works great in that regard too. However, it is hard to unsee Scourge in that design.
The Orion Pax figure is easily the best one we've seen yet, with a head sculpt that is so cartoon accurate, it nearly brought a tear to this collector's eye. It is a very subtle thing to translate a 2-D image into a 3-D form, and they have managed to do it so gloriously here. Great job all around Takara and Hasbro.
For better or worse, we have seen these characters most recently in the 2017 Power of The Primes Leader Optimus Prime that included an Orion Pax sub-figure. The Titans Return Alpha Trion figure that was released in 2016 is a redeco of the Takara Legends LG41 Leo Prime. Yet there's more still of both these Prime characters that we will be looking at in future posts.
I really hope this isn't a pain to get. I watched the video, now I really want it!
Looking forward to this on September 30. I will be haunting Hasbro Pulse on that day.
That box art is super cool. I don't usually cosmically ask for things, but a Dion and Ariel to complete the set would be amazing. Who knows? Never thought they'd make a lot of the figures coming out today.
Oh for sure! These are really great! I also loved the look of Orion Pax's sculpted detail. I wish we had a closer up photo of Alpha Trion's headsculpt but it looks on point as well. If only these two had come out last year, they would have made it into my Stop Motion Animation. ?
I agree a that it's hard to not see Scourge, but I think it's rather unavoidable when it comes to Alpha Trion. Aside from the IDW Comics, he's never been shown to have a legit alternate mode that harkens back to the G1 design. I think a Hovercraft works nicely, as opposed to IDW's "Dark Night Tumbler" vehicle. Just wish there was a lot more maroon to replace the gray/white of his alt mode. That would have helped differentiate both characters of the same mold more.
