This.was a homage to the G1 The Transformers Episode #29 "The Insecticon Syndrome" where Optimus Prime manually transforms Megatron to use against the overgrown Insecticons.
Actually, I had forgotten about the 2003 Collection #9 accessory until I saw the recent Walmart Exclusive Transformers Retro Toys Transformers: The Movie G1 Starscream release that includes the Collection #9 Megatron gun. Unfortunately, they didn't add the special Optimus Prime fist, but it is only needed to hold the shoulder stock too. Shown here is the 2023 Retro Toys Mini Megatron Gun accessory with the 2019 Walmart Reissue G1 Optimus Prime, with upgrades from the 2010 BTS Toys BTS-03 kit we looked at yesterday.
