Figure King Magazine Reveals Legends EX Headmaster Set Featuring Hasbro Titan Master Molds
TAG Hobby has early interior images up from the latest Figure King Magazine. So far the only Transformers content being shown is a LG-EX box set offering six Titan Masters using the Hasbro release toolings. Three are direct substitutes for prior regular Legends Headmaster releases, while the others are TakaraTomy debuts of previously Hasbro exclusive character choices. Kind of. The possible bad news is that as far as we can tell, this is a possibly limited exclusive. For details on characters and release info, keep reading!
The set is comprised of Hardhead, Chromedome, and Brainstorm color coordinated to the TakaraTomy LG releases, but featuring Hasbro's face sculpts. The other half is Legends releases of Brawn, Clobber, and Skytread - named for this set as Gong (Brawn's original Japanese name), Grimlock, and Flywheels. Whether this counts as repurposing for those last two depends how strictly you adhere or not to the idea that Clobber and Skytread are literally the same characters that they appear to be. In any case, for many this will be academic, as obtaining the set might be a bit difficult and costly.
While we cannot particularly read Japanese, we can make out enough of the article text to understand that the set will appear at the Winter 2017 Wonder Festival, which takes place in Japan on February 19th. It seems that there are plans to possibly also offer these through the Cybertron Satellite locations at participating retailers in Japan. Reference was also made in the article to TakaraTomy Mall, suggesting an online distribution as well, though still limited to residents of Japan. The set is priced at ¥3240, and the presumed post-Wonder Festival release is set for February 25th.
