G1 Composer Robert J. Walsh Passes Away At Age Of 70

Composer Robert J. Walsh, who created background music for all three seasons of the original 1980s animated series The Transformers, has passed away at the age of 70 per his record label Varèse Sarabande Records. We at TFormers offer our deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Per TFWiki, Walsh came onto G1 after the initial miniseries run, and stayed with it to the end, adapting his score to the new landscape of season 3. He provided music for nearly all of Sunbow's shows, including GI Joe, Inhumanoids, Jem & The Holograms, and Muppet Babies. Walsh remained active as a composer until his death if his IMDb credits are accurate, and returned to GI Joe with GI Joe Extreme in 1995.

Currently, a selection of Walsh's G1 work is officially available on vinyl from Enjoy The Ride Records.
