Generations Selects Star Convoy Revealed! Plus Hints At Generations Seacon Snaptrap, Plus Super Megatron?

So it's looking possible that Hasbro has gotten into TakaraTomy's supply of Crazy, because Dengeki Hobby has posted images of the Star Convoy we saw at Tokyo Toy Show and given a release date of Late September... and it's titled as a Generations Selects figure!

Star Convoy is a remold of Power of the Primes Leader Class Optimus Prime to make it look more like the final Japanese G1 version of Optimus Prime. On top of that, the inner robot has been given a makeover to look like standard Optimus Prime, complete with a really cool G1 toy-inspired headsculpt. (And entertainingly, it includes a Matrix that can combine with Star Convoy's gun!)

But that's not all Dengeki Hobby is showing off. There's also a couple silhouettes: one apparently Star Convoy's Battlestars counterpart Super Megatron - one of the key influences on Transformers: Animated Megatron's design - but one that has never had a toy before. The mold appears to be Titans Return Voyager Galvatron. And secondly, it looks very much like we're getting our Seacons, as the other silhouette appears to be Snaptrap from Power of the Primes Voyager Hun-Gurrr's mold. There's no info on the rest of the team, but are we finally getting our Seacons... and before Unicron at that?

The fact that this is all marked as "Generation Selects" is very encouraging! But it's not impossible that these will all still be Japan-only releases. Super Megatron is a really deep cut for US audiences - though given the nature of Selects and the predilections of this design team, it's not out of the question by any stretch. But until we get more information we're also considering the possibility that TakaraTomy is rebranding its Legends LG-EX series to match the current branding for Transformers toys. But the fact that it's marked as 8500 Yen - the going rate for Leaders in Siege in Japan - helps support the Hasbro release hypothesis, as LG-EX usually sports a markup while Generations Selects to date have been the same price as retail releases. Either way, more information is needed!

Who didn't know this was Power of the Primes Optimus retooled? I thought that was obvious. The feet on my figure aren't floppy though. All it's joints are tight and I was shocked I liked him so much.
