Hasbro's recent Investor Day event revealed a few interesting Transformers-related news items! Most noteworthy of those are the release of the official Transformers 5 placeholder logo we'll be seeing until a name is chosen for the film, and the return of `70s-early`80s toyline Micronauts as a subline of Transformers! Hasbro cited the power of storytelling in their sales, showing a 7% increase across storied brands where non-story toys showed a very slight decrease. They also touted the strength of Transformers, showing that revenues were very much in line with what was expected in a non-movie year.
The Micronauts announcement is both a complete surprise and an entertaining case of the tail wagging the dog, since Transformers itself was in part spun off from Microman, the Japanese version of the Micronauts line.
