Just out on the SNS, The Hollywood Reporter says that Hasbro's eOne has been acquired by the Lionsgate Studio for $500 Million in a cash and assets deal that could close by end of 2023. The report states there will be an offical announcement coming coon with details on the deal. Hasbro is said to be selling off just the TV and Movie assets to focus on their core toy and gaming initiatives.
This should come as no surprise as Hasbro said they were looking to sell the production side of their eOne TV and Film business units in during their Hasbro Investor Day Live Stream, event back in November 2022. The sale is part of Hasbro's new strategy to focus on core brand development and licensing for their top performers including the following: Peppa Pig, Transformers, Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, My Little Pony, Power Rangers, Play-Doh, Monopoly, and Clue.
