Hascon 2017 - VIP Dinner Toy Reveals And Hall of Fame Event Report And Photos

The Hascon Transformers VIP Dinner event is happening right now, and guest reporter Eric Crownover is in attendance and bringing us the inside info from the venue. The VIP dinner event consisted of a special panel with some of the actor guests, a dinner period, Hall of Fame inductee announcements, and a new product reveal segment, followed by IDW talking about the next big thing coming to the comics universe. The evening appears to be wrapping up with a Stan Bush performance. We've got reports and photos from the evening below, so click through to get all the details!

Welker and Cullen never realized they were part of something that was going to last until the movies came out. They never had fan mail when they started, and were shocked that they were making a movie franchise. Once the movies took off, they realized how many fans there really are. Isabella Moner was bummed that she was only 14 when she filmed, because she couldn't drive the Lambo. Mark is never left alone in public, because people always see him as Cade Yeager now. They're debating a time travel movie, world war 2 movie, or different movie for Transfoemers 6. Frank Welker says a baby movie, where all the humans and Transformers are infants. Solid spin off idea. Mark says he's already signed on! Mark didn't realize that he was the last knight in the newest movie when reading the script, but he trusted Michael Bay. Mark said the only thing he hates about Transformers is the long hair, it makes him look like his mother. They said that The Last Knight was the first time they had human characters with power on par with Transformers, due to the Arthurian legends.

Actor panel portion of the event is done.

Peter Cullen and Frank Welker are now inducting Susan Blu into the Hall of Fame.

Along with Susan Blu, Lorenzo di Bonaventura has been inducted to the Hall of Fame. Susan Blu besides being the voice of Arcee in Generation 1 also helped shape three Transformers series in her role as voice director; Lorenzo di Bonaventura is of course the producer for the live action Transformers movie series.

Lorenzo told a story about being in the hospital for heart complications and his doctor asked if he was the producer of Transformers. He said yes, and the doctor told him that he owns 500 Transformers and his brother owns 1,000. The doctor then proceeded to share that he owns Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron boxers. He said, "Do you want to see?" and pulled down his pants. Sure enough, Lorenzo could see his Bumblebee boxers while on the operating table. After the story, he was given a Movie Masterpiece Optimus and Bumblebee for his induction. Similarly, Sue Blue received the special early access Titans Return Arcee figure as she was inducted.

Eric reports that the team members from Hasbro and TakaraTomy are now taking the stage.

Deluxe Moonracer has been announced. One of the TakaraTomy designers said this was the first female combiner he'd worked on. Toy reveal images start here in the gallery.

Rippersnapper, Hun-Grr, and fans choice vote winner Optimus Primal have been shown so far. John Warden let one of the newer members of the design team take on the Optimus Primal project.

Moving back a bit, we have the Hall of Fame winners in the various robot character categories:

Toy of The Year is Trypticon!

Favortie Character went to Galvatron!

And Favorite Movie Character was won by Barricade.

After the Hall of Fame presentation, a special tribute to Hideaki Yoke was shown, including photos of Yoke-san at a Halloween party in 1987 dressed in an Optimus Prime costume he built the night before.

Up next we have IDW on stage. IDW is looking back over the 12 years they've been with Transformers. They were intimidated but excited to get the Transformers license. They think it's important to keep building and building instead of rebooting. A giant story that keeps building is so important. What's the one Transformers moment they haven't done in IDW? It's one character. They literally spelled it out for us. Unicron. First Strike is causing events that will be like a beacon. A beacon that Unicron notices! They're excited that this is the first time in Transformers history for Transformers, GI Joe, Micronauts, and more to fight Unicron together!

Stan Bush has taken the stage, so we're guessing that'll be wrapping up the events of the evening. Big thanks to Eric Crownover for delivering us coverage throughout the VIP event tonight!
