Today we're proud to be rolling out a new feature on TFormers! We call it the Wave Tracker, and it's designed to give you an at-a-glance indication of what the most current info about a given toy is. Are there pre-orders up yet for Power of the Primes
Wave 2? What's the next Masterpiece figure being released? Any reviews or photo galleries of the newest TakaraTomy Legends figures out there? If we know, the Wave Tracker will tell you. Keep reading to learn more!
What It Is
The Wave Tracker is designed to keep tabs on the news cycle of Hasbro and TakaraTomy-released Transformers figures. There's a certain flow to Transformers news, from reveals to preorders to shipping/sighting in stores, to the inevitable photo galleries and reviews. We're collecting that info and putting it all in a single place so it's easy to look up a specific figure and know if you should be checking your preorders or local stores, or checking out the video reviews.
New to the sidebar is a set of quick status indicators for the five most recently updated waves, which you can click and get the full specifications of the wave as it's currently known, ranging from case breakdown to any available reviews or galleries of the figures within the wave. On top of which, you may start seeing updates like this on our social media from time to time as the statuses of waves are updated:
It's our goal for this to make it easier for you to stay informed about the progress of new toys and provide a quick way to look up exactly what's coming!
What It Does
At launch the Wave Tracker will focus on only official Transformers figures made by Hasbro or TakaraTomy. We feel this will allow us to reach the greatest cross section of both the fan community, as well as those with a much more casual interest or awareness in the brand while keeping the scope of the project manageable. There is a diverse and expansive range of first party and officially licensed merchandise like statuary, vinyl minifigures, soft goods, or Mr. Potato Heads wearing Optimus Prime's armor, without even touching on closely-related items like Diaclone Reboot, or the deep well of Unlicensed Third Party, so it's inevitable that something someone is passionate about won't be represented here. It's not our goal to exclude anyone, and over time we may be open to expanding coverage to other areas in the future. Right now this is the range of products we think will be the most useful to keep readers up-to-date on in the long run.
All of us here at TFormers have been putting a lot of work in this project behind the scenes. As far as we know there is not another Transformers resource out there like this, which makes the Wave Tracker very much an experiment in progress. We've done as much testing as we can so far, but we also designed and developed it and know how we expect it to work and be used. We're knee-deep in it, but you aren't. So if you encounter any bugs, if anything isn't clear, or you think something could work better, we want to hear about that, or any other feedback you have about the Wave Tracker. Ultimately we want this to be a useful resource for our readers, so please, join us on the forums
and let us know what you think!
