According to Hollywood reporter, actor Jorge Lendeborg Jr. is currently in talks to play the male lead in the next Transformers movie that is tentatively referred to as the "Bumblebee Movie". Jorge has played roles in The Land (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Brigsby Bear (2017).
Set sometime in the 1980s, the lead female role will be played by Hailee Steinfeld. The choice of the new lead role, will give us a better idea of what kind of movie this may be. As word has it, this one will feature less robots, and more human character development.
Hailee Steinfeld also will star in the film which Travis Knight, who directed the stop-motion movie Kubo and the Two Strings, is helming.
Bumblebee is the yellow and black striped Autobot that appears as one of the main characters in the Transformers film series. Plot details have not been released, but Steinfeld will play a tomboy who also holds a job as a mechanic after school. Sources say the tale is a prequel to the main film series, focused on Bumblebee's life in an earlier decade. Christina Hodson (Shut In) wrote the script.
