LEGENDS LIVES ON - TakaraTomy Addresses Legends Series' Future In Hyper Hobby Magazine
RAC - Tuesday, February 06, 2018

Autobase Aichi has published a synopsis of the Transformers news in this month's issue of Hyper Hobby, one of the many hobby magazines published monthly in Japan. While the mechanical translation is typically shaky, it seems as though the Legends series, with its higher standards of deco, will be continuing alongside the Japanese release of Power of the Primes! But there is still a catch - keep reading for details.
Power of the Prime Japan version Introduction of products from June to July.

Basically it looks like a new photo. The introductory text itself is not particularly novelty content, but regarding the PP series, it seems to be a policy to release all kinds with the worldwide common specification.

In relation to that, with regard to the future of the TF Legends of the current series, there is a description that "Takara Tomy Mall will be continued around the center".

By the way, regarding the coalescing function of the dreadwind and blackwing, I did not mention it here as well.

Emphasis is ours. If we're making heads or tails of this correctly, this is saying that Legends will continue "centered on TakaraTomy Mall." Meaning Japanese online exclusives - so don't be surprised if importing whatever Legends series figures we get from here in becomes a little more expensive. Still, this could be an alternative to PotP on some figures, or at least an expansion of character selection, so good news!

It also mentions that the combining feature of Blackwing and Dreadwind isn't mentioned in the magazine, which is apparently a continuing thing. Maybe they're trying to downplay that until a Legends Buster and Hydra are announced? Let's hope so.

Coming to us from Robot Kingdom, we have in-package photos showing off the Street Fighter II X Transformers toys, due to be released this weekend (give or take). Hot Rodimus [Ken] vs Arcee [Chun-Li] and Convoy [Ryu] vs Megatron [Vega (M Bison)] are the two sets making up this initial - and sadly so far only - offering, and while the concept behind these toys is pretty much entirely crazy, they still look great and their packaging is itself quite nice featuring the toys posed in mid-fight, and the back panels demonstrating the toys recreating iconic moves of the associated characters. Check out the photos below.
This review of Greatshot comes from chuckdawg1999 on the TFormers forums! His summary: "Legends Greatshot is a fantastic update to the G1 figure. I really like how the colors pop, especially the gold on the chest. While I am disappointed the head has to be removed for transformation, the figure makes it very easy to overlook. Crossed fingers that we get a Shadow Maru down the line?" Click through to view!
Once again from Gamerlingual we have images of the comic packed in with LG-EX Greatshot. Though much of the detail of what's going on is hard to get from just the art, one element is pretty clear: the expectations of some fans have been met, and it looks like Greatshot's Headmaster is being explained as a revived form of Chromedome's friend Jack, who Sixshot killed in The Headmasters. This takes advantage of the Titan Master sculpt for Sixshot taking design cues from that character model, and that mold element being reused for this release. Click through to have a look at the new comic.
We've got our first look at the comic included with LG-EX Grand Maximus. These first images are photos of the pages, so they're not the absolute highest quality, but they're pretty good for now. Not that we think higher quality scans would lead to the comic making all that much more sense in absence of the dialogue to tie it together. The show-stealer though is an appearance of Black Zarak embodied as a recolored Doubledealer using the Scorponok Titan Master that came with Grotusque. Not something we expect to ever see for sale, but an interesting use of resources. You can puzzle along with it in the gallery below while we hope for a translation in the near future!
We've got some good looks at this month's special Transformers releases from Japan straight off of Twitter. First from Alfes2010, we have more pictures of Greatshot, including a side by side image with an original Greatshot. Plus a bonus of Greatshot and Sixshot switching faces. These photos give a really nice look at the robot mode and its retooled parts, though not really putting any attention on the alt modes this time. Click through to check them all out now!
