If you were a fan of Gobots back in the 80's then you will want to check out this new review of the Machine Robo: Revenge Of Cronos Eagle Robo/Leader-1 figure from Action Toys.
In the 80's Transformers had little in the way of real competition when it came to transforming robots in the toy aisles. At least until Tonka tried launching a more affordable and smaller line known as GoBots. Sporting a similar concept to Transformers, Gobots told a story of heroic robots that transformed into earth based vehicles fighting evil ones. Often refereed to as the poor man's Transformer, Gobot toys generally sported smaller, cheaper designs that cost less. The good guys were lead by a transforming jet named Leader-1 and the bad guys were led by a evil transforming motorcycle name Cy-Kill. The line even had it's own cartoon as most toylines of the 80's did.
Gobots never really had the following Transformers did and have been absent from toy shelves for many many years, however that is changing with this new line of Machine Robo figures from Action Toys. These new figures, which are smaller than most Masterpiece Transformers sport die-cast parts and contain a fair amount of articulation. Each figure comes with a modular display platform which honestly I don't think adds much to the toy, and while these figures are cheaper than most Masterpieces, they still cost a pretty penny running around $45 each.
