New York Comic Con 2017 - Hasbro Presentation Live Report
RAC - Thursday, October 05, 2017

NYCC is happening now! Yes, already: barely a month after HasCon and the week after TFCon, we've got another major convention happening. Twitch TV is streaming presentations from the event, and Hasbro's Transformers presentation is scheduled for between 11:15 and 11:45 this morning, so hopefully we'll see some of it! Keep reading to see, and we'll update with info as it happens! PS: Note that some of the ads and other content on the stream are likely NSFW.

-John Warden & Ben Montano On Stage

-Transformers: The Last Knight out now on home video!

-Allspark Tech figures shown off. Cube gives SFX and voice clips specific to the figure it's installed in.

-Warden: It's cool now to come out and say "I'm a Transformers fan." Warden used to keep TFs in a secret drawer in college for stress relief.

-Trypticon! Transformers from Giant Space Dinosaur to Evil Fortress to starship Nemesis. Eats Titan Masters!

-Trypticon's Titan Master Crunch: A Full Onslaught Of The Nutrition Every Transformer Needs. New flavors, all part of a healthy space dinosaur's breakfast! "The more Trypticon eats, he becomes a bigger boy."

-Grotusque revealed! Titan Master Monterbot with diecast Scorponok included. Available RIGHT NOW on HasbroToyShop! Art by Marcelo Matere. Limited Quanitity available now, more coming through partner retailers.

-Titans Return Arcee! Partnership with TRU. Available now.

-Power of the Primes Dinobots! Volcanicus in color for the first time. Enigma of Combination confirmed and fits in Grimlock's mouth.

-PotP due out early next year/late this year. Late Spring suggested as target for Volcanicus' full availability.

-"Mysterious Wings" shown for Titan-class Character. Divebomb of the Predacons!

-John and Ben love bringing new fans in and seeing people get excited about Transformers. It's a new era for Transformers.

-A lot of people asked for a Dinobot combiner. They're trying to make everything happen, and folks keep asking for new stuff.

-Volcanicus available now in Earth Wars game. Titans Return Machinima premieres next month! The team enjoys getting a chance to tell stories.

-Presented wants a GIANT Unicron. John: "And a giant storage unit to keep it in?" They get that one a lot.

-It's great working on this brand because you get to be a geek and think about what geeks love.

-Who was your favorite growing up? John: Roadbuster & Whirl, because they weren't in the show and he could make his own stories. He used to make Energon using sugar cubes. Host did it too! Ben's favorite was Optimus. It's been cool to hang out with Peter Cullen. He lives the character. He respects the character, and he's the voice of Optimus pretty much everywhere.

-The host's was Soundwave. John points out that Soundwave was voiced by Frank Welker, voice of Megatron. As were all his tapes, so there's a 5-minute stretch of Welker just talking to himself in G1.

-HasbroToyShop is where to go for Grotusque. Volcanicus available everywhere in 2018!

-Host thanks John and Ben for playing with toys with him. That's it!

Yet another Hasbro Fan media event is behind us at Toy Fair. From this we have lots of photos of current and upcoming toys to obsess over, as we do every year. But that's simply the obvious, most easily visible takeaway from the presentation. But we learn more than that, so it's time to look back over the day and sort out the larger scope of information we've been given from what is arguably our biggest single day of reveals for the whole year. Keep reading!
The smallest gallery to share is that for the standard Masterpiece line. The newest entrant shown is the MP-17+ Prowl featuring animation-inspired deco and which it seems is due to get a same-month release by Hasbro going by indications from some of the US retailers. Also out at the show were Shadow Panther, with a copy of Cheetor out as a point of comparison. And rounding out the upcoming product was Dinobot, making most things around it look small. It seems that several other items were included in the display, but in the form of exclusives and other long-since released products to represent the line. You can check out the photos of the newer products below.
Wonderfest managed to diverge a bit from Toy Fair's presentation this year in the movie product on hand. While the Studio Series line was on full display matching Hasbro's reveal, a few of this year's Movie The Best products were out in the exhibit space too - though it's probably not too unfair to say some of them were rightly outclassed by their brand new Studio counterparts. We also get to see a little bit of Move Masterpiece among these toys, resulting in the movie offerings for this year being nicely represented. Click through to check them out!
Wonderfest is happening in Japan right now. The one day event falls just hours after the first day of Toy fair in New York, and on the Transformers side, and consistent with our earlier speculation much the same lineup of products were on display, albeit with subtle differences. Unfortunately in Power of The Primes those differences are limited to the state of finish of the various items shown, rather than things like actual deco choices. For instance, grey prototypes of Optimal Optimus and Predaking versus color versions. Click through to see these and more!
The images are still rolling out of Toy Fair 2018. Here, we have even more Transformers showroom images featuring the mighty PREDAKING, and more. Keep checking back for more coverage from Toy Fair 2018.
