Niantic Transformers Heavy Metal AR Mobile Game Cancelled

We reported this announcement just last year, but news out on Bloomberg informs us, Niantic, the company behind the game, has cancelled development of the Transformers Heavy Metal AR Mobile Game. The company announced today there will be layoffs and cutbacks that include cancellation of the Transformers game, as stated below:

Gaming company Niantic Inc., which has struggled to find another big hit following its 2016 game Pokémon Go, canceled four projects and will cut about 85 to 90 jobs.
The canceled projects include Heavy Metal, a Transformers game that Niantic announced last year...

For better or worse, as we know as Transformers fans, the games tend to be more miss than hit. Not that we lacking for new games in the franchise as their are a number of new enhanced reality games rolling out such as the Transformers: Alliance game in Japan and the Transformers Beyond Reality, among others that you can follow in the Games Section
