Thanks to Alfes2010, we've got a selection of nice photos of the just-released in Japan Targetmaster Hot Rod Masterpiece figure. The photos shared via Twitter show off MP-40 in a standard overview of the robot and vehicle modes, including weapons attachment options like the new Targetmaster connection on the hood of the car. We also have some side by side shots with the original MP-28 Hot Rod, which serves to demonstrate very effectively the deco changes between releases. We've mirrored a number of these photos, which you can find below!
From a Japanese hobby magazine via Singapore fan group Planet Iacon,
we have an image that seems to show chest and shoulder design art for a new G1-styled Optimus Prime figure. Is this a new Masterpiece version 3.0? Or something else entirely? It'll be a good while before we know, but meanwhile, keep reading to see the image!
Site sponsor Robotkingdom
has posted images of the packaging for MP-40 Targetmaster Hot Rodimus, due to ship on the 24th from them! As is custom, Hasbro Asia has released a special collector coin with unique sleeve as part of the packaging. Click through to see both the sleeve and the packing for MP-40 itself!
Last night we found out about the new anime colors variant of Masterpiece Prowl, MP-17+, which would release as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive. But surprisingly today, it looks like that will also be available for purchase in the US. US retailers, such as sponsor BigBadToyStore now have preorder listings for MP-17+, marked as a Hasbro product, and due in September. The timing - and similar pricing - sure makes this sound like an effort at a simultaneous (or as near as we can get) Masterpiece release by both Hasbro and TakaraTomy, which could have some interesting potential if it becomes a regular occurrence! The ToysRUs Australia
Facebook page has announced that now through February 25th, Australian collectors can order MP-34S Shadow Panther via the retailer website. The figure is a black recolor of MP Cheetor - based on a black recolor of 1996 Deluxe Cheetor - and is expected to ship in October and costs $109.93 AUD, or about USD $86.
