Official Update on Soundwave Thunder Machine Transformers X G.I Joe Set

Ben MacRae aka Bmac, Brand Marketer on Hasbro's Transformers team, follows up with an update on the Soundwave Thunder Machine Transformers X G.I Joe Set that was revealed recently. He's been getting a lot of questions about the set, and has been nice enough to try to answer them for fans. Read on to hear details on O-Rings, Ravage's mold, Tapes, and more than meets the Joe in his report below.

There were quite a few questions surrounding this release so let me try and answer them.

1) Zartan and Zarana are ALL NEW o-ring figures. They were created based on the originals but we’re updated as needed. Both will come on their own blister card in-pack.

2) Ravage is the MP Ravage mold. Yes he converts. Yes he’s blue on purpose. Fun little side note he was supposed to be blue in G1.

3) Soundwave has a functioning cassette door and Ravage will fit inside of him. The rocket on the back of the Thunder Machine is also doubling as Soundwave’s Sonic Cannon. He is also roughly 10 inches tall so Commander-esque in size, but these don’t play into a perfect Transformers scale. They are 1:1 in size of the original ARAH toys.

4) I pushed REAL hard for the chain accessory so anyone who bought last years HISS Tank and Baroness could recreate the iconic comic cover with these figures. It HAD to happen.

If it’s not clear this was a DREAM project for me and I’m so happy it’s finally revealed. Hopefully we’ll be able to have one on display for all of you in the GIJ section at SDCC

With those particular shades of red and blue, this made me think of the Captain America Hummer Crossover figure.

When I realized that "Howlback"/"Ravage" was using the MP mold, I immediately went to find that KO MP Cassettecon set before it sold out. If they have the MP mold with this instead of a new one then that tells me that this will be compatible with them.

I also love that one picture with Zartan's face smushed into the shoulder weapon thing while he's sitting in the backpack.
