The Dinobots are a sub-group in the Beast Machines toy era. Supposedly, the Maximals got ahold of some of the original Dinobot (BW)'s DNA, and made some warriors out of them. Please note that all of the DB molds have been used at least once. They include:
T-Wrecks (repaint of BW Megs)
Airraptor (repaint of BW Neo's Archadis)
Dinotron (remold of BW Dinobot) (repaint of BW Neo's Hardhead)
Rapticon (repaint of TMII's Dinobot)
Terranotron (repaint of TM Terrorsaur)
Magmatron (repackage of BW Neo's main villain)
Striker (repaint of BW Neo's Sabreback)
Triceradon (repackage of BW Neo's Guiledart)
Beast mode: In beast mode, Airraptor is an archaeptoryx, a primitive animal between bird and dinosaur. It measures 7 inches long and 8.25 inches wide. From the top, it's nice, with only the holster of the gun peeking out. Any other angle, however, is different. And the feet are really gimpy, so the toy WILL NOT stand unless supported by the wings. In this mode, it has a gimmick or two, depending on how you look at it. There are two tabs on the wings. Pressing these tabs will launch out the wings and drop two feather clumps that are SUPPOSED to be aerial bombs of some sort. Then, you can flip out the claws and expose laser snipers. Spiffy.
Transformation: The robot legs flip down a la Dinobot and the rest of the bird rotates around so the side faces you. Pull the back back so the bottom of the wings face foward. Rotate the beast head down to become the left arm. Pull out the robot head and set the wings against the body to become a cloak. Fold the tail down, pull it up, and rotate it so the rifle rotates into AR's hand.
robot mode: Rather nice robot, but too much beast junk in the way. The tail becomes a shield, the back becomes a whopper shoulderpad, and the wings become a cloak that obscure the impeccable robot torso. It is very technological, with a Dinobot Spark Crystal (amber Triceratops head) dead center. The gimmick for this mode is you pull on the shield a bit, then rotate it back so a rather large rifle rotates into AR's hand, which is in the resting position. But this is a major no-no for the show, seeing as how the good guys degenerated from great warriors to wimpy pacifists. Measures five inches tall. This toy has so many techno bits, it's easy to see what he might've looked like pre-BW.
overall: While a good toy, nothing is without its flaws
