Magmatron - Beast Machines - Figure

The popular Japanese exclusive Destron leader is now in U.S. form, and I can't thank Hasbro enough. But enough about that, heres the lowdown on this awesome toy.

Separate beast modes: Much like todays Armada/Energon Tidal Wave, Magmatron separates into 3 things, only these are dinosaurs, each with their own unique gimmicks. The first one is Skysaur, a Pteradactl(Queztalcoatlus to be exact, but thats to hard to remember, you know what I'm saying, right?). The most realistic of the three, Skysaur is mostly red with yellow feet, hands, and beak. The color green is used for his eyes and there is a little brown fading on the wings. When you pull on the tail the wings expands to about 11 inches.

Landsaur is the next dino, a Gigantosaurus. He is mostly blue and silver on the spine, tail, and forehead. He is the most unrealistic of the three, with the red claws molded on the chest and the robot feet hanging by the back of the upper back legs. Interestingly, Landsaur has rolling wheels on the robot feet, if anyone knows what there purpose is, please post a commet below. Back on track, Landsaurs mouth opens like the other two, but when he does it fires a missle. Sneaky.

Seasaur is the last of the three dinos, and he is my favorite. He is a Plesiosaurus. The first thing to notice is that helluva long neck. The thing it self is 11 and a half inches. Wow. Any way, the colors on Seasaur are are mostly light green with dark green on the back and yellow eyes. The gimmick is when you push on the back flippers the front ones move forward, as if he were swimming.

Transformation: Figure it out when you get him. Ugh.

Combined beast mode: Magmasaur, (the name Hasbro gave this mode) is pretty funky. It has all the same colors as the separate modes, nothing new here. Landsaur is the front legs, head& arms, seasaur the tail( reminds me of Quickstrike)back legs, and lower back, and Skysaur is the wings(what else?). All previous gimmicks are available, though its a mystery why you would want to use Seasaur's.

Transformation:(points above)

Magmatron robot mode: Being the big cheese of the Destron forces, Takara did a pretty good job at making him look like it.Although I must admit, he instantly reminded me of the Disney elephant Dumbo. Skysaurs wings look like Magmatrons ears ^_^. Landsaur be comes the legs&waist, Seasaur the arms& back, andSkysaur becomes(you guessed it) the head. During transformation the lower body of Seasaur detaches and it can function as a shield. The throat of Landsaur becomes the gun or sword. Again, no new colors but all the gimmicks are inaccsessible. Magmatron holds together like a rock, which is very nice. He has full leg, knee& arm articulation. Well, his right arm cannot go all the way up due to Landsaurs head being the shoulder. Seasaurs neck is not hidden at all, but the head is just a little bit left of Magma's head. Guess he never gets lonely ^_^.

Overall: Magmatron is a completely awesome figure that should be bought whenever the chance. If you like Tidal wave at all, you will fall in love with this completely flawless figure. Thank you Hasbro for bringing him in America!

Recommended: Ages 10+ only, for transformation can be absurdly hard for young children.
