Red Alert - Cybertron - Figure

Red Alert was a paranoid security director in G1. Lately, though, he's shifted to the medic ward for the autobots. While absent in Energon, he returns in Cybertron to be the doc for the team. He ends up accompanying Hot Shot to the Speed Planet: His alt mode reminds me of the Dodge Magnum. Love the lines on that car, and subsequently love the lines on this alt form. What I don't like is the head kibble on the roof. They tried to make it intergrate with the light bar, but for me it just didn't work out. You can also see chest kibble through the windshield... tacky. Otherwise, the white and blue with red strobes does the job of giving him that medic look. Using his Cyber Key in the back end will pop out his rear 2 doors and expose cannons. Nice, unexpected feature from one who doesn't normally fight. Resetting the cannons once you take the Key out can be a little cumbersome. What's even more cumbersome is transforming this guy. It's a very 'unique' process where the lower front and lower rear merge to form his legs. Getting the arms and doors in place can be a trick, but lifting his head up is an absolute drag. It's a tight fit and you almost have to clamp his head to get it up. Unfortunately, there's no lever like there is with Optimus. However, once you do get him fully transformed, he looks pretty nice. He has a good variety of poses he can use. His head also can articulate. His Cyber Key function works the same, except that they flip out and form shoulder cannons. As with Armada Red Alert, his left hand has attachments. In this case, you can choose from his laser welder that's default, a body hammer or a claw. The other 2 items are hidden under the hood (lower legs). This redeems his playability. A nice figure, but try not to transform him too much unless you like stress.
