Excellion - Cybertron - Figure

Name: Excellion
Series: Transformers Cybertron
Faction: Autobot
Size: Deluxe Class
Packaging: Blister bubble package
Release: 2006
Variations: Hotshot (TF Cybertron), Excillion (Galaxy Force), Excillion (Galaxy Force, Limited DVD Edition)

Comments:

A new recolor of Hotshot (Excillion, Galaxy Force) from the Transformers Cybertron series, but created as a separate character non-show character. One of the best recolors and minor mold changes to come out in the Transformers Cybertron towline.

Vehicle mode:

Excellion's alternate mode has distinct design based from a Ferrari sports car. Personally I'm not a car expert, but as I see some resemblance with regards to some signature designs from the above mentioned originated vehicle.

The color is not particularly solid in red, but the un-even paint can be noticed because the doors are actually painted in red. Flame patterns are tampo applied. The small autobot logo used to be molded and its now a tampo as well.

The headlights used to be translucent and now its now colored flat silver. Tires are now darker grey or black which ever you see it.

There are some orange parts painted in front of the car. The flame patterns are colored gold instead of just flat yellow.

Transformation:

Excellion's transformations has similar take from the original G1 Hotrod (Hot Rodimus), but with a modern twist. First pull out the doors up to the front. Pull the legs down and lift the driver's section. Then rotate the portion where the driver's section has been placed down to his legs. Split the front halves of the car until it reveals the head, and then rotate to reveal robot's face.

Robot mode:

First I have to address the changes between Hotshot and Excellion. The head from the original mold has translucent visor and eyes. Now its painted in solid colors for the visor in gold and the eyes are now blue. The yellow parts from previous mold used to be yellow now replaced by the color orange.

There are some other parts that still has yellow (related to the flame patterns) on them, but not that distinct like the original version. There are silver parts like the background of the autobot symbol molded to his left shoulder as well as his right.

Toy Gimmick:

Force chip activates dragster wings for faster speed.

Packaging:

Blister bubble packaging same as any TF Cybertron has the shape of the two factions. This time around the map/product catalog is from the Jungle planet.

One of the four maps to complete and form a large map that consists of planets, where other transformers came from.

Accessories:

Rifle, Speed planet key, instruction manual, and Jungle planet map/product catalog.

Overall Rating:

It would be nice if the door is even with the body's color pertaining to the paint scheme, but truly in the end he's one of the most sought after toys for those who did not have a Hotshot or an Excillion. This `bot's got an edge and gets an 8/10 robot points.
