Dillo - Beast Machines - Figure

The Deployers are now out in full force, available at TRUs and Zellers everywhere. Nabbed this little fellow last Monday, having gotten Rav a few days before.

Beast Mode
A cute little mechanical armadillo that measures roughly 13 cm (5") from snout to tail. Main colours are black, cyan, yellow, and transparent purple. In terms of appearance, Dillo falls between Mol, who is the most mechanical-looking, and Rav, the most organic. And with seven points of articulation, Dillo is the most poseable of the three (which clearly isn't saying much). He can rear up, wave, or look as though he's surrendering, the little coward. Other neat little details include tank treads on his hind feet and laser guns mounted on the end of his tail. His bolos missile cannot be fired in this mode.

Transformation
Pulling up on Dillo's tail activates his transformation. His head and back flip out and over and his sides extend. Or as Vice GripX puts it, he basically explodes. You also rotate his front limbs around to reveal missile pods.

Attack Mode
Pretty neat little gizmo, especially with the dual missile pods. The whole thing doesn't lock in place though, so it occasionally slumps forward unless you rear Dillo up on his hind legs. The neatest part about this toy however is its launcher. I don't know if my Dillo's just special or if they're all like this (hopefully), but he sure packs a punch!

He can send all Basic and certain Deluxe figures crashing to the ground. Incidentally, the bolo missile has a lot more chains running through than in the photos on the packaging. No doubt this was done to prevent it from breaking too easily, like in a child's mouth.

Dillo was later re-released with a new blue and red colour scheme.

Overall
Suspsy Sez: I like Dillo. He's a nifty little critter with a good colour scheme and nice detailing. Transformation is, well, a snap. Dillo's attack mode is somewhat unstable, but his launcher is stronger than Tankor's or Optimal Optimus's.
