Ransack GTS - Cybertron - Figure

This review should be rather short. It’s just my thoughts on a repainted figure that I’m sure most of you already have. I don’t even get into the whole “why are they in disguise if they are the only ones on the planet” or “why are they Vehicles if nobody is around to drive them” rant. I think the repaint is better and here is why.

Vehicle Mode:

Ransack GTS retains the same mode as his predecessor Ransack of an alien motorcycle. This crotch rocket looks like it would be very uncomfortable to ride due to its lack of handlebars and extreme forward leaning position. The only real change has been to the color scheme. Where Ransack was primarily red and black with gold and silver accents, GTS is green, black, and white with gold and teal accents. Green energon has replaced the red energon in the wheels, windshield, and headlight. I can only assume that his key-empowered weapon is made of this also because it has been painted over with black and gold, but the little hook that holds the barrels in place before activation is green. As we saw in Energon, green energon is more used by Decepticons and red by the Autobots so I feel that it’s more appropriate. I don’t like red so the black was a welcome change. It covers most of the cycle’s body with gold on the fuel tank, sides of where the seat should be, and the weapon. Teal accents what will become the top of his wrists and the rear suspension assembly. The black wheel centers and engine are now white. The Decepticon symbol no longer graces the side of the weapon.

Robot mode:

The robot mode isn’t quite what I expected. The vehicle mode is long and sleek but this mode is short and petite. Usually Transformers get bigger as they unfold from Alt mode to robot, this is one of the few that doesn’t, Brakedown is another. I can’t help but feel that he should be a little bigger. The joints seem a little tight which is a welcome surprise since they’re ball joints, so that happens. The only new color revealed is purple from the Decepticon insignia on his chest. His chest plate is now made of unpainted green energon. The arms are primarily black and gold with the teal accent I mentioned previously. His waist, thighs, face, and abs are white, while the rest is black. Gold now adorns the front of GTS’s feet and around the “helmet.” I can’t get over how much taller he looks vs. how short he really is.

I think Ransack GTS is much better than Ransack. His predecessor had way too much red. With Crumplezone my Speed Planet figures are going to look very green and earthy but it’s my collection so I’ll collect the figures I want… screw the characters on the actual show.
