Die-Cast Coins - Transformers - Series 1

The collectibles keep on flowing from the "Transformers" movie. Fans have rejoiced over what was a great film and lot of cool figures and collectibles that we got with it. A long time tradition, Transformers collectors will find all kinds of collectible coins made for Generation 1 on through the Beast Wars to the modern day "Transformers" movie coins from PopBox Collectibles.

These nifty little collectible coins are made of sturdy die-cast metal weighing in 10g / .3 oz. An antique coating and slight brush on the metallic finish have been applied to give the coins a weathered feel. Each 3 cm / 1.2 inch sized coin is intricately carved with fine details. The designs are somewhat like a poker chip with a heavy rigged outer band that give way to a thinner inner disk showing the design.

The coins are offered in five different designs that feature three movie characters and two faction designs. Available designs include Optimus Prime, Megatron and Bumblebee as well as Autobot and Decepticon insignia coins. The double sided coins show the character name with silhouette on one side and a relief of the robot face or insignia on the other. The designs are really quite nice, I am hard pressed to pick a fave between the the three bots, but I would have go with Megatron for the old style head design that didn't get changed just before the movie.

The first series, will be offered in three different metallic finishes: antique silver, gold and copper. Shown in this review are the silver and gold coins. Each coin comes in movie syle box with a circular open window and translucent protector insert that works nice for storing and displaying your coins.

These coins are being offered at a MSRP of $3.75 USD each and can be purchased now at Action-HQ and other retailers. Keep an eye on PopBox Collectibles for news and info on more coins.
