Scourge & X-Brawn Spychangers - RiD - Figures

Bought these guys, along with Ultra Magnus, at a comic book shoppe, since as of this writing (04/16/02) they have not been sighted in Canadian retail stores. *Sigh.*

Vehicle Modes
Scourge is a longnose trailer cab measuring 6.5 cm(2.6") long. He's mainly black with red windows, a silver grille, bumper, and smokestacks, blue stripes on his front and rear fenders, and a purple Decepticon symbol on his hood. He's got six chrome-hubcapped wheels, but the middle pair does not roll. The detailing on the cab is very nice, with fuel tanks on the sides and tiny horns mounted on the roof.

X-Brawn is a 7 cm(2.76") long Mercedes-Benz M-class AMG. Mostly silver and green with black windows, chrome hubcaps, a silver brush guard, orange rearlights, a red Autobot symbol on his hood, and strangely, black dots over his headlights. Interestingly, his rear wheels are nearly twice the size of his front ones, making him look like some kind of SUV hot rod. His front doors can open to reveal robot bits.

Scourge and X-Brawn both roll quite nicely on carpet and hard floor.

Both are actually very similar to that of their larger versions, particularly Scourge.

Robot Modes
Scourge stands just over 6 cm(2.4") tall at the head, 7 cm(2.76") with his huge shoulder pads. He's now mostly black and grey with blue detailing on his shoulder-mounted rocket launchers, head, torso, and knees. His eyes are red and his mouthplate and crest are metallic silver. The resemblance to the Super-sized version of Scourge is nothing short of uncanny. Aside from a few paint details on Super Scourge, the two look exactly the same. The Dr. Evil and Mini-Me of the RID line, ladies and gents.

Scourge only has joints at the elbows and his fists lack pegholes. Nevertheless, he really is the jewel of the Spychangers.

Similarly, X-Brawn is pretty faithful to his Deluxe version. He's still mostly green and silver with yellow eyes, metallic silver on his face, chest, and feet, red on his chest and shins, and even grey wheels moulded into the front of his shins. His left arm is even more massive in proportion to his body than on Deluxe X-Brawn. So massive, that it gives him a tendency to fall over in some poses. An Autobot symbol is etched into his arm.

X-Brawn is articulated at the shoulders and elbows. The left shoulder can swing forward and back as well as up and down, but the right shoulder can only swivel up and down.

Susp Sez: Like Spychanger Ultra Magnus, these two are a sight to behold. Both are surprisingly similar to their larger versions, Scourge especially. Indeed, Scourge alone is worth the purchasing of this two pack. Be sure to nab it if you can.
