What the heck is this? I was totally confused when the postman handed me the big white box I had to grab with both hands. I didn't order any new toys? An early holiday gift? I looked at the label and saw it was from CoreGear. Holy cow! THIS was my CoreGear Xip3 Transformers jacket?
Inside the box, the Xip3 is rolled up and cram-packed in a clear plastic bag with Transformers stuff printed all over. Out the packaging, there's hardly a wrinkle on it and much to my surprise is not the nylon windbreaker I was expecting at all. This is full out jacket made of come pretty hi-tech stuff!
The outer shell is made of an high quality material that looks like black metal. There's an iridescent gray Transfromers logo that runs down the left sleeve. It is lined with a high-quality compressed mico-fleece. In fact, this is really not a jacket. I think it is closer to a medium weight coat. No question it is made to take on the wind, rain and cold. This the geek chic or what?
The Xip3 didn't stop impressing me there. Its got heavy-duty zippers. Several accessory pockets to stash stuff high and low. The adjustable sleeve cuffs are made with this really cool reflective material embedded with small TF logo accents. There's even a special pocket and headphone port just for your mobile phone or favorite MP3 player. How cool is that?
You'd think with all that going on this would be kind of bulky? It is actually made to fit snugly. It almost wears like a cycling jacket, only a bit heavier. If you'd like a little room in yours. Order yours in one size larger, as mine is a little tighter than I like.
Oh yeah, the Xip3 also transforms into a backpack and a pillow, but I like mine so much as a Jacket. I've put my old North Face jacket in the closet and will be wearing this from now on. Seriously, if you are looking for a truly official Transformers product and a high performance winter garment. I highly recommend the Xip3. At just $95, you won't find more reliable protection from the elements thanks to the Autobots.
