Ride 'Em Cowbee! Emprire Magazine Gives Up Writers Room Details on Transformers The Last Knight

Empire Magazine's online arm have posted what they are calling an "Exclusive, Explosive New Look At Bumblebee In Transformers: The Last Knight", which is something that we have seen already in early trailers where Bumblebee saves the kids from the bipedal Mech-bot at the abandoned stadium, but still!

The good news is beyond the Bee, we get some insights on the making of the latest movie with words from the writers room on the early formation of the 5th Transformers movie and how they pretty much got what they wanted... Something that could explain the too bright ideas that have impaled this movie.

What's quite surprising is Bay suggests that Age of Extinction was basically him prototyping a new direction.

The last film in the franchise was, Age Of Extinction, was “kind of an outlier,” Bay explains in the new Empire. “Because of losing Shia and just figuring out where we were gonna go. It was testing the waters a little bit. This gets us back in the groove”.

As for the Writer's from the Room, they've shared how their wild ideas were quickly realized somehow with Michael Bay's clout. Quite literally choosing who they would like to play a role, and Bay made it so. At least with regards to the Sir Edmund Burton Englishmenm for Hopkins, and Gogman, that is said to be inspired by the Downton Abbey craze, according to Ken Nolan and Matt Holloway.
“We said, ‘He’s an Anthony Hopkins-type character,’” says co-writer Ken Nolan. “And two days later Michael’s like, ‘So, we’ve got Anthony Hopkins.’” Another new character is Cogman, a psychotic robot butler (“He constantly wants to kill people,” says co-writer Art Marcum) who has been excitedly described by Spielberg as “the greatest four-and-a-half-foot character since Yoda”. Co-writer Matt Holloway, a Downton Abbey fan, one day said as an aside, “It would be so funny if Jim Carter voiced this character.” A short while later, Bay announced, “Jim Carter — we got him.” “It’s good to be Bay,” says Nolan. “Everybody says yes.”
