RUMORS: Did Galactic Man Shockwave Prove This List of Upcoming Siege Toys is Real?

The reveal of Galactic Man Shockwave today was a fantastic surprise and honestly a moment of speechlessness for me and probably more than a few others. It was a lot to take in and process, and as much as I want to say it came without any warning, that's not quite true. See, Galactic Man Shockwave caused a bit of a problem simply by actually existing. A list shared a week or so ago making fantastic claims about a range of toys that were going to be coming up in Siege was honestly so out there that it was pretty easily dismissed barring further evidence. Evidence that we got today.

We don't know the original source of this list of rumored upcoming merchandise, as we only ever saw it in the form of reposts with no attribution. That by itself lent healthy skepticism, and taken together with the frankly rather ridiculous nature of some of what was included, the whole thing seemed like an easy write off. Except that perhaps the single most ridiculous item, Galactic Man Shockwave, turned out to be real. While far from proving every single other extraordinary claim is in fact genuine, it seems to make the rest of it worth a little more consideration.

This list already contains a few items that we already had some degree of knowledge about beforehand. Though so far only one named entry other than Shockwave has any kind of support from a retail listing or other reasonably reliable secondary source. So here's what's already "known" in some way:

• Micromaster 10-pack
• Hot Shot
• Galactic Man Shockwave

So, Hot Shot has been understood to be a possibility basically since the first day we saw Siege toys, as Hound's packaging on display had character art incorrectly using a Cybertron Defense Hot Shot head instead of Hound's. The Micromaster 10-pack has been floating around for a little while, though we don't really know much more than that the title has appeared in retailer data. In the rumor list, it's suggested the Micromasters are redecoed versus the originally released pairs. And then of course there's Shockwave. There's a small discrepancy, where in the rumor Shockwave is described as "full black" where the revealed item today is a mix of dark and light grey, with just a few pieces that seem to actually be black. But this still seems too ridiculous a thing to just get coincidentally right otherwise.

There's two items that have been loosely implied in one way or another:

• Decepticon Impactor
• Reflector set in toy deco with extras

Decepticon Impactor has whatever small basis in the original fan vote poll that saw Impactor and Mirage selected for inclusion in Siege, where Impactor was presented in art with a Decepticon emblem. It may have been an effort to play off a simple error without admitting to making a mistake, but when questioned about it, a statement was made from the Hasbro side that the backstory for that would be revealed over time, or words to that effect. In both the Marvel UK and IDW Comics continuities, Impactor had varying turns where one might, for marketing purposes, choose to label him a Decepticon. Though in this case it might more specifically tie to Marvel UK, where Impactor did a brief run as a zombie more or less under Decepticon control. A "zombie" redeco could make sense - especially in the context of Generations Selects - and is not itself unprecedented anyway.

Reflector having a more "complete" camera appearance with extra parts has been rumored since the toy's black light code info page was unlocked and revealed design art showing the camera mode with a flash head, grip, and shutter button evident. Opinions were somewhat divided over whether that was a tease for a future version, or a remnant of an earlier iteration of the toy we actually got. If the former, doing a set in G1 toy-based deco would be the best way to set it apart from the normal retail versions.

Finally, we go off the wall:

• Deluxe Nightbird
• Deluxe Powerdasher

Nightbird is purportedly a redeco or remold of Chromia, which seems just barely reasonable enough to not rule it out altogether immediately. Nightbird had previously been realized as a toy from TakaraTomy early in the Legends line as a remold of Arcee. That's been a decent little while now, of course, and even so Hasbro's team would probably like a shot at getting one of their own out there as much as they'd want to offer an option to people who might have missed out on the honestly really nice TakaraTomy take. It's suggested this could be a Generations Selects release, which makes a good bit of sense.

The Powerdasher is said to be a redeco of Brunt. We can but assume it would be the Drill Powerdasher, since that's the only one with a remotely similar alt mode form to Brunt. If so, the redeco would be blue and yellow, and possibly find the barrel attachment for the large cannon replaced with a drill. Opening the door to redecos of the Weaponizers is only a good thing. Speaking only for myself, this isn't what I would have first chosen for Brunt's reuse, but if it's legit I have to give a little credit for straying way the heck outside the typical box with the character choice.

So that wraps up the run of rumors which have been made even a little bit more credible following today's official reveal. There's quite a bit of stuff floating around right now that we know about and Hasbro hasn't made official announcements for, so I wouldn't expect to see much of anything else in this group revealed at SDCC. But considering Galactic Man Shockwave just fell right out of the sky on us today, it's hard to rule anything out. The Transformers brand panel, not to mention the anticipated fan media event happens this coming Thursday, July 18th, and we'll be covering it all.
