Following up on last year's Kreon Class of `84 set, Gizmodo Toyland reports that Hasbro will be bringing the class of 1985 to Comic Con International this year! Featuring the vast majority of the toys introduced in 1985 plus Alpha Trion, this 30-Kreon set sports some extremely referential bonus accessories and will run $60, same as the Class of `84. $2 a Kreon is not bad at all! Keep reading for more details!
It'll be faster to tell you who isn't in the set. Certain figures who were technically released as part of the 1985 waves - Shockwave, Perceptor, and Shrapnel - were part of the Class of `84 boxset last year. The Constructicons are technically present but not as individuals - unsurprisingly, since they're pulling double duty as this year's big ticket item, they are represented as Devastator. The most conspicuous in his absence is Jumpstarter Twin Twist, as Topspin is a part of the set. Otherwise, the mass-market releases of 1985 not included in this set are Whirl, Roadbuster, and the Deluxe Insecitcons. Since we're not getting every toy seen in stores in 1985, it probably won't surprise you to learn that 1985's Robot Points exclusives - the Omnibots and Powerdashers - are also not included.
While all five Dinobots are present, only Grimlock and Snarl sport their original names. Slog, used last year for an Age of Extinction Dinobot, is now Sludge's official name. The other two substitutions - (Dinobot) Slug for Slag and Strafe for Swoop - are established naming practices. The rest retain their original names with "Autobot" or "Decepticon" added in selected cases for trademark purposes.
