Transformers Combiner Wars Prime Wars Trilogy

Hasbro wants to get into digital story telling. Found partner in Machinima who are by fans for the fans, leading creative work this field.

John Warden is the resident Transformers expert on story and the toys.

The universe is set in a time periods beyond Earth Wars. Loose society in Cybertron goes back to G1 characters with more details and Transformers in a gritty setting.

Perfect team to work with on this story. The guys got every bit of the TF story and mythos.

Massive presentation with 50 people at Hasbro (Star Chamber). They had a good time getting to know people from Hollywood were TF fans. Room was filled with story boards and all kinds of backstory,

The Combiner wars story has so many characters. Sophisticated stoyr about someone's emotional journey. Worked in Japan for a long time and wanted to bring adult animation.

With these characters they can tell a story about Windblade as the focal point. In the middle of this a character has a problem, mission and vengeance.

Lots of conversations about it is for everyone, with a deeper story that would wow people. Remind people why we love TFs in the first place. To capture the magic of the TF property.

As fans and creators, they have to respect past but find new stories. Focus on core principles and appeal to a wide audience though movies, TV, toys, young and old
regardless of your culture.

Third thing they did was distill characters to core essential pillars to keep from making mistakes on what characters would and would not do. Didn't want to ruin the IP for fans by changing it too much.

Focus on core aspects, what do we want to see them do. What is the Combiner Wars about? Lots of homework and looking at their backstory and chose the most dynamic character for the series.

Exciting part of working on TF is the ability to connect people and friends together. Allow families to share hobby with next generations. Knit together universe into a welcoming story. This is an opp to embrace the whole franchise.

About characters in tailer, Maxima. She is right hand to Windblade. Took cue from Combiner Hunters, cool character. Dedicated to Windblade, explores harder edge of war and following leaders into war.

They try to being some interesting to each character. Starscream was a lot of finding here he fit in.

The combiner characters like Victorian figuring out what it is to be a combiner, who they are and how they work in War.

First ep highlights Menasor, he's crazy and unpredictable. He was never out of control enough. In CW they are all kind of nuts. Like when Computron combines and he gets smarter.

FJ is voice of Megatron. It was interesting to get Megatron to sound the right way. When writing Megatron, he has a plan to do terrible things. In CW Megatron is in a different place, he's satisfied with his situation.

Windblade, character is fan choice. Abby says it was na amazing endeavor. The script writers have a lot of work to make the story happen in 40 mins. Windblade should be more mellow-dramatic, but not. A style of acting that is more like extreme emotion. As the last staw, she feels the need to act. Was difficult to mix sadness, anger and almost desperation.

When auditioning for character she drew on more of the Japanese techniques.

Show is produced in Japan. They love doing the Windblade character with modes of fury, sad, and a full range of emotions.

If you watch the preludes, you can see more on the characters emotions.

Shows exclusive trailer,,,

Scene, Menasor lands on planet Cambinus and sees they are not happy to see him. Menasor and Windblade and Maxima fight. Menasor grabs Winblade to Crush her, but Maxima blasts him in the face with her rocket jets.

Animated with older look, John checks to the continuity. Even the music is supposed to support the 80s feel in a dorky ways. Updated, yet still contemporary.

Fans who love any part of TFs should be drawn to this in some shape or form

Jason says he made Megatron his own by reducing the Growl since he's more chill. Didn't want to do another Megs, do something different and but a big challenge that is balanced but new. "Douche it up." when working on voice.

John says it is exciting to see creation come to life from toys, its intense. Victorion move from Fan choice to final was incredible.

Eric, in Japan saw ep1 and they played it for him. He realized he was a fan since he was a kid, had original video tape. The first ep made him cry because this is the sequel to the Animated movie.

George as a fan it would cool if this happened, and he got to write that scene. He won't say which.

FJ loved where plot comes together that is new and special.

Abby lived in Japan, and can speak Japanese and got to use it more with the production staff. To work with these people

Q: Are there any guardians? Will we see Omega Supreme
A: Stay tuned.

Q: No genders in TF
A: Hasbro likes the mystery of why they are female is interesting.

Q: How likely will there be for a Blu-Ray release.
A: Releases on GO90 is the deal now. There is no official plan for disc, at this time. They would like to, but they don't know.

A: Combiner Wars deluxe groove. Will we see blast off.
A: Knew fans wanted to see Defensor done right. No plan for BO right now.

Q: Will CW show us characters fall and arise to new occasions.
A: They try to retain consequence of actions. But didn't want to make it so dark it was post-apocalyptic. There are old alliances they try to look. BIG Easter G1 egg in ep4.

Q; Are combined forms unified or separate.
A: They did a lot of homework on Combiners and made separate voices, but combined as well.

Q: Will combiners combine in diff ways?
A: Watch till ep 8.

Q: How does Megatron feel to have failed so completely.
A: Retirement is pretty amazing. I got all the free-time, Pokemon go just came out!...LAUGHS INSANELY.

END of panel.

Hasbro's people said during Toy Fair they have exclusives planned for Generations for this year, though they didn't reveal any specifics. During Toy Fair this year, the Hasbro team gave the invited fan media representatives a special treat, in the first reveal of what the next instance of Transformers Generations would be. Power of The Primes is wrapping up in 2018, and with it comes the conclusion to what Hasbro referred to as the Prime Wars Trilogy. Part of the meaning of this is that 2019 will be the beginning of something completely new, a point they made very clear despite having few real details they could share. But something about the way they talked about it concerned me and got me thinking.
