Entertainment Weekly has posted a release date of September 1st for the series premiere, along with a new trailer and a fascinatingly fresh voice cast list. The headline on EW calls out Cyberverse as being "1980s-inspired" ...but what in Transformers, at least that we see at market today, isn't? It definitely smacks of a very deliberate attempt to refocus on what people liked about Transformers before the live-action movie series. But, it's likely that more than a few people of the age to be buying their kids toys right now grew up with Beast Wars or the Unicron Trilogy. G1 is always going to be seen as the safe bet, but time will tell if it's the right bet during this transitional phase of Transformers as a brand.
