Entertainment Weekly has new story up about the Director Steven Cable Jr's voice actor choice of Pete Davidson for Mirage in the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Movie. The role, that is said to be the rogue element to Optimus Prime's plans. Described as a rebel with a "The Mask Meets Bugs Bunny" personality. The Director also gives up one of the many sub-plots with the Autobot Leader's mission and Mirage's relationship to it.
Mirage isn't up for the return trip home just yet. He's been living on earth for the seven years that precede the events of Rise of the Beasts, and he's been soaking up the culture of the time. Hence all the '90s references that are inherent to the character. "Personality-wise, he's an outcast and a rebel," Caple mentions.
Mirage has been a controversial character from the start with the classic Porsche alternate mode being changed out for his classic Ligier JS11 Formula 1 racer from Generation 1. As we can see now, they want to draw attention to this rebellious character that will have a pivotal role in the story. What is a little strange, is this is a very similar role played by Cheetor in the original Beast Wars TV series. Who, is also in the movie, and has been shown interacting with Mirage in previews.
