Studio Series Devastator Image Reveals Constructicon Size Classes And Combiner Structure
On the Weibo page for 孩之宝变形金刚, we've got a good look at a promo image for Studio Series Devastator, the highly ambitious project to fully recreate the massive combiner from Revenge of The Fallen taking place across several waves of toys.
The new image shows us Devastator with four of the Constructicons in full detail, corresponding to known revealed toys including Long Haul, Rampage, Scrapmetal, and Hightower. Rampage is shipping alongside #38 Optimus Prime from the Bumblebee movie, with the other toys still waiting for subsequent assortments this year. That will probably take us toward summer before we see some of the toys like Hightower and Long Haul.
The other four figures comprising Devastator are only shown in silhouette, and include Scavenger, Overload, Mixmaster, and Scrapper. Though the image does not represent a timeframe for any of the toys, it's fair to guess that the earliest we could expect to see the second half of the Constructicons would be very late in 2019. More likely is that we would end up waiting until part way through 2020 before the entire group is finished shipping out.
The image also notes which figures are at what size class, and Devatstaor is taking advantage of the full range of price points in Studio Series. Hightower and Scrapmetal are Deluxes, as we've known for some time already. Four Voyagers will make up much of the combined whole, including Rampage, Long Haul, Scrapper, and Mixmaster. Finally, two Leaders will serve to fill in the major stuctural parts of the body as Overload and Scavenger each come in at the $50 level. All told, based on current SRPs, completing Devastator will be at least a $260 project, albeit spread over at least a 12 month span.
